ONE BILLION RISING TAOS | DANCE & RISE IN SOLIDARITY

One Billion Rising is an annual global day of action to end violence against women and girls, a call to action to the people of the world to rise in dance, creativity, and community against sexual and domestic violence. 2019 will be a special year for One Billion Rising Taos. In addition to our annual community march, dances, poetry readings, speeches, and music, we have added an interactive mini-bazaar where participants can take part in self-defense workshops, crafts, creative writing, education stations, and a self-care table before the rest of the program begins. As always, this event is free and open to the public. Our "Break The Chain" dance tradition is the climactic feature moment of every year’s rising, and a powerful worldwide dance anthem for the movement itself. Free community rehearsals to learn and practice the “Break The Chain” choreography will be offered prior to the OBR event, but are not required for participation on February 14th.
